Qualifications 

MSc (Wood Science) Melbourne University
AD App.Sc. (Forestry) Gympie

Background

Gary has worked in field forestry and forest products research since 1982. He has developed specialist skills in wood anatomy and timber identification, and expert knowledge about processing and utilisation. His research has taken him to England, Wales, Ireland, USA, Argentina, Paraguay, Fiji and Samoa. He has been awarded a Cullity Fellowship (2001) and a Jacobs Award (1993).

Role in the Cocowood Improvement project

Gary’s role in the Cocowood project is to provide high level support to the project leader, technical staff and partners.

 Interests

Gary's research interests include softwood grading technologies, plantation hardwood and coconut palm product development and processing systems.

In his spare time Gary is kept busy with his family, guitar, mountain biking and waveskiing.
