Qualifications

B App Sc (Hons)

Background

Lesley has been a research scientist with the Innovative Forest Products group since 2005. She is a member of the International Research Group on Wood Protection. Lesley received a Ron Crockcroft Award to present timber durability research at the International Research Group Conference in 2006.

Role in the Cocowood Improvement project

Lesley is identifying the organisms responsible for staining cocowood, and which potentially devalue the resource. She is also investigating the best way to treat cocowood to protect it from fungal attack during drying and when partially-dried products are processed or shipped. She is delighted with the opportunity to work with colleagues from Fiji and Samoa.

 Interests

Lesley's research interests are focused on the biodeterioration of forest products.

Her spare-time interests include travel, music, guitar, reading and sharing all this with family and friends.
