State of the art of coconut processing, market and prospects in the Pacific countries.

This is the subject of a roundtable meeting in Fiji (June 17^th-18^th 2009) hosted by the Secretariat of Pacific community (SPC) together with the Asian Pacific Coconut community (APCC) and the Australian Centre for Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

Workshop participants will discuss gaps in coconut processing technology in Pacific countries (APCC and non-APCC member countries). The aim is to identify potential ways that relevant  governments, non-governmental organisations and international aid agencies can contribute to improvements in cocounut technologies in the region.

Coconut processing models that are appropriate for small island communities and capable os producing value-added cocnut products will also be discussed. The workshop will also consider appropriate systems for technology transfer and capacity-building.
